Training Methods We Use

GM Chow doing Iron Palm Training, and beside him are the three pads on the wall like we have

Temple Blocks, Three section Blocks and many more names for same technique .

Standing in front of each other, you hit your forearms together, very soft at first, and going harder as the months go bye. This will make the forearms very hard. When you hit or block, your arms will feel nothing. Without this training, you can hurt your arms when attacking or defending using this part of the arm. With this training, the techniques you can use are endless, not only for defending but attacking.

When we start this training, which by the way is called, "Packing", we always make sure to never over due it, always take care of your arms and any where else you use packing type techniques. Also start out by doing one hundred, and not to hard, slowly getting harder as the time goes bye. Always remember that time will go by fast, even if you think it is going to take so long for six months to roll around, it will be here tomorrow.

Most important is when finished, roll up your sleeves and rub your arms every where they were hit, or where you feel a bruise coming, this will dissipate the bruise and cut the healing time in half. Later when you learn how to make it, or if you can buy it from your teacher, ask for Dit Dat Jow, this is a type of herbal medicine especially made for packing, and for bruising.

Remember I told you that many teachers were never taught applications, so they make up excuses that they are teaching only for health. Well even for a drill above, used to harden the arms, and deaden the nerves a bit to lesson the pain when blocking an attacker.

One Application to the drill above, Temple Blocks

What if your attacker tries to punch you with other arm

Different Types of exercise for various results

Sifu Klentz

Here Sifu Klentz grabs two plastic containers used to weight lift with. What is good about the containers is they can be filled half way, or a quarter of the way, or full up to the top, the main thing is because you can use different amounts of water for weight, you can use these two plastic bottles for many types of weight lifting exercise. With the one above, hold the containers to your sides, breath in as you lift them up to the side, both at same time. Bring them right up equal with your shoulders, hold, and as you let them back down, slowly, breath out on the way down. Do this for five or six times a day, and watch the results you will achieve.

Here is a very rough exercise to make it through. Talk about tough on the hands and your grip, but is that not what you would want. Usually one would do all of these things after going for a run, after your run, you have much better flexibility, and you also have much better warmth to your muscles and tendons.

Stand up straight, grip the rope in your hands and try to get as best a grip as you can. Start by raising your legs to waist level, count to ten, now bring your legs up to where your hands are, over your head. Touch your two feet to the piece of wood over your hands and bring down your legs slowly. There are many fantastic things you learn from doing this exercise. But make sure when your hands start to slip, bring yourself down fast, wait until you have a better grip and start over. You will be home before you know it.

Doing push ups on blocks, this way you have three more inches to bring your chest all the way to the ground, watch how good this stretches your chest muscles.

Throwing knives outside, find an old wood door, not one that is hollow inside, find a good old wood door, if you know someone that works at the dump he would be able to find you a door, or you can ask construction firms, see if you know someone that works at one, and ask them every time they are going to throw out an old door to keep it for us. You will find someone to keep doors for us for long time. Pays to be good to people always.
