Combat Class
Key Benefits
- Learn how to use weapons
- Learn how to spar and practice self defense techniques with partner,
without injury, in fact we have never had an injury in our schools for the
last forty years. This is from professional teachings, not from someone
without knowledge, and tries to prend they are the master they never were,
usually a black belt that left their instructor before being ranked to
"Sifu" Degree, this is very important, so much so, because in all honesty, a
black belt has no knowledge. Sure they know how to punch and kick, they know
a few forms, and technique, a few weapons and some self defense. But that is
so far from the level of teacher. One has to be trained in so many facets of
the martial art to become a teacher, it makes every one of us that has put
our blood, sweat and tears into our training, look very bad. Plus most of
these mindless idiots are usually bigger buys that push their weight around
rather than use actual technique. People that have never seen the difference
are sucked into something that boils their blood when they see sometimes
years to late that their teacher was a charleton. So with that said, make
sure you do a lot of research before you commit to lessons in any style. It
is not important who the person is, what is important is the knowledge they
have and what they can teach. In fact a good teacher is one who can teach
fifth degree black belts daily for years and still have knowledge to teach
them, that is the difference. A master Instructor is some one who can teach
instructors to the level of master. Please be aware of this fact, sure their
are a few heads shaking right now, but you know what, take a look in the
mirror, you know who you are.
EDIT ABOVE AND BELOW
- Learn how to move away from, or stick too your partner. There are many
aspects to sparing, if you become a member of the Combat Class, it is going
to be benifical, and informative.
Capabilities
With the combat class you will be asked to find a partner, as you become used
to the Combat class, you will slowly get used to moving with your partner, and
if you can't seem to move that well with the partner you have, you will be asked
to change partners until everyone has someone they move great together with.
Another thing to talk about is because the Combat class is late in the evening,
and there are no children, you are able to practice much more weapons training,
to start with you learn a double ended short staff, After that you learn a short
spear form, and how to use the Chukka's in a basic method. After you have tried
ten different weapons, you are asked which one you like the best, and then which
is your second and third choice of weapons, For the first two years you will be
asked to only train those three weapons until you become expert with them.
Expert level will come to anyone who trains hard for two to three years.
Also if you are in the Combat class you should take ten minutes out of
every day and go for a short run. It is not important how far you run, what
is more important is that you run properly. Make sure to never touch your heels
to the ground, and always make sure to stay up on the balls of your feet while
running. Start out slowly and not to far, if you run to far on the first day ,
you will be far to sore the next day and might scare you off running again.
Running is very good for your stretching, and again if you want to have the best
stretch, you must run.
