Sifu James Croy teaching his students at Opeongo High School

Master James Croy

Sifu James Croy came to Sifu Fiedler and asked if he could start a club at Opeongo High school where he worked as a high school Science Teacher. He taught those classes twice a week over ten years. The students he taught were all young adults, and the type of classes he taught his students were very valuable especially for these students. These students all lived on farms, and never lived in Cities, they did not understand city life, with city crime. Things from date rape, to swarming, to where to walk when your car breaks down at night. Sifu James Croy was a teacher that was very firm in his class, however he was always fair. Sifu James Croy truly made a difference with his students, and that is something that not everyone can say. I know that Sifu James Croy would never say this about himself, but I know some of his students that would, after being taught by him they learned so many valuable things, things that would carry these young adults their whole lives through. I know the words Sifu and Master can be confusing. In the Chinese Martial arts, the name Sifu can be given to the oldest Grand Master in the system, it can also be used for the new teacher who just received their teaching degree. Most of the time we call even the highest level master, "Sifu". One day you might go to the class and someone is up at the front who was always called Sihing, but now everyone is calling him Sifu. Why would this be. Well for one reason, if he is the highest level in the club, and is up at the front, he has to be called Sifu. For another explanation about the word, "Sifu", why does Sifu Fiedler never have the word Master in front of his name. The reason for this is he does not want that title, he would much rather prefer to be called Sifu. I hope this cleared up a little about the word Sifu, I will come back to this and try to give a few more examples.
