Using Long Range and Short Range Together

Sifu Dee and Sifu Gallant using techniques and forms from White Eyebrow
Sifu Dee and Sifu Gallant working on their White Eyebrow techniques and forms. White Eyebrow is known for being able to go from Soft to hard and Long to short, or short to long in a split second, without skipping a beat. They are experts in range, distance, and timing. And that is why the last form and techniques are taught from White Eyebrow. This is the last stage of training until we start our Ying Yee. Ying Yee has a much more advanced version of linking styles, systems, ranges of motion and technique. Everything after you learn White Eyebrow is Ying Yee. Unless you chose to go into Southern Eagle and Mantis, or maybe you want to stay in Hung Kuen, until you are third or forth degree black belt, it is all up to the student, and how he or she feels what style or system feels better for their size, weight.
From Long Range to Short
Switching from Short to Long without skipping a beat is very important to move on to the next level. Once you learn to use Short range, or bridge, long range or bridge, and then learn to use these two amazing distances with out thought. When the Sifu Feels that the students are ready to move on to teaching them to move from short range to long range with out missing a beat between either one. Same with long to short, it has to be finished in a way that no one can even see the change from one to the other. This type of training takes longer, but well worth the effort in the long run.
