Two top students having a great time sparring with each other

Sparring does not have to be a terrible experience. When you have a teacher that cares for his students, he or she will teach their students properly. To teach sparring properly one has to take time to make sure the students know exactly what and how they are to do things. It is very important they are taught to always take care of their partners, to take care of their partners as well as they would themselves. Your partner is someone you should count on to take care of your every move. When you both start with this method of training, the results will be amazing in the long run. Yes it might take longer to teach this method, but it is well worth the effort. Your students will be highly trained, is that not what you would want for your school, or where you are going to learn. If you walk into a club, and all the children are screaming, "Kill, Kill, Kill", when two of the students are sparring, turn around and find another school, this teacher is not only showing he knows nothing, he or she is also showing how little they know.

Teach Sparring properly

Sparring is very important for the students, make sure that they are taught properly and taught so that both understand that they need each other the next night they will be together. For some it is a good idea to start them off with push hands, allow them to work up to free style, and from there, you will not have to worry at all, why, because you taught them professionally, not to swing like to Baboons towards each other.

Working together, not against each other

The more two students work together, the more they become used to each others movements. This is very important for what they will be doing later when they start to spar with each other. If they start to spar and they already are used to working together, the outcome will be successful. Make sure your students understand what it means to work together, opposed to against each other.

Sifu Dee teaching student how to use foot and hand gear

Sifu Dee, helping his student learn how to use gloves and foot gear properly. I know some people think that when you put on gloves and foot gear, you just hammer away at each other until someone falls. If this is the way that your teacher teaches, run the other way fast, because this is not correct. Gloves and foot gear warn in the martial arts are used for many reasons, one being able to spar for a long time without getting hurt, or hurting your partner. It is so very important, when you first put on gloves and foot gear, that you do not get carried away with each other and start to go faster and less careful. You have to stay very careful, even have someone to watch while you are both sparing, in case you both start to get out of control, this person can tell you both to stop and rest of a second. This is important, because foot gear and gloves sometimes do that, it gives you a false sense of security, and sometimes people start to go to fast, and or to hard, and someone gets hurt. Please always be careful and always listen to your teacher.
