Defense against Round house kick

Attacker kicks with roundhouse kick. If you move back and block, you can break your forearms, if you move into the kick and smother it, plus block closer to the knee, you will be able to easily block a kick like this. However remember if you step back and block a hard roundhouse kick by somseone who knows how to kick, you are going to break your arms. However make sure you step into the kick, not away from. I had to say this over and over, because it is that important. As soon as you block his roundhouse kick, make sure to slide your hand up to block his arm that is closest to you.

As soon as you have his arm, you can slide your leg around his supporting leg and throw your attacker to the ground. Make sure to keep his leg with one arm, and as you throw, keep his leg wide open with your own. This way as he hits the ground, you can punch him deep into his bladder or groin. Ouch..........

Everything takes practise, practise, practise, and more practise. Time might seem like it is going slow, but it goes by very fast, and with in a very short amount of time, you will be ready to stop any incoming attack.

Another Angle

Attacker throws roundhouse kick towards your midsection. Make sure to slide towards the kick, not away from it. Yes this will take some time to train, but well worth it, make sure to block at the knee, not the end of the foot, or ankle, the velocity is much to strong at the end of the leg, but at the knee the leg travels much slower, so it is much easier to block, in fact keep your eyes on his knee, not end of leg. After you have stopped the leg, quickly slide your arm up to grab his foreword arm, grab onto your opponent, and step in around his supporting leg.

As you can see when you take your opponent down. One of your arms holds his leg tight, pulls it up toward you, so his butt comes off of the ground, that tight. Now your other leg keep his legs from closing, he's in bad position for a groin strike, that is what you do next. After the grion strike, if he still is not out, keep his leg, stand in crane stance, throw one heel kick into his bladder.

Sifu Gallant waits for Roundhouse kick, as soon as he sees his opponents foot leave the ground, he starts to duck and turn while low

If done correctly, when your opponents kick was to hit you, your foot should be in his groin at that exact second. In his mind, he thinks his foot is going to hit you, or he would not kick. As he kicks, you are already starting to duck out of the way, and turning on the ground, doing a text book Dragon spin into his attackers groin. Techniques like this are not done enough by students. They are taught by someone who cannot do these things themselves, so they tell there students that they are no good. Some teachers would hate the fact that some of there students have better skill then they do. These are the type of teachers you should get away from. They have only their own interests at heart. Unlike something that Grand Master Tallbear said to Sifu Fiedler one day. He said, " If I am teaching you properly, you will be able to defeat me". Some thing like this coming out of Grand Master Tallbear's mouth shocked the young Sifu Fiedler. He knew the skill that Grand Master Tallbear has and could not fathom the fact that anyone could defeat him, let alone the students. But then again there are many lessons that GM Tallbear taught to Sifu Fiedler that he is still trying to figure out to this day. Another extremely important lesson to the young Sifu Fiedler, " Pain is Joy, and Joy Is knowledge". think about that one for a second, do you really think you know what it means. I can tell you if you ponder on this sentence for years, every time you turn around, you will think you know what it means, and five years later something else will come into your mind, five years again will pass and you will wonder why you were so stupid, but then again, I was hard on myself and called myself names, so with that said, it is extremely important for a Grand Master to impart his wisdom to his students.
