Garage Club

I remember the first garage we had to do our kung fu in. It was great for the summer, but for the winter, it had no heating at all. I remember the students coming in and complaining it was cold, oh it is to cold", they would say. I would look at them, and shout, get down and do some push ups, when you are finished that, make sure you do your sit ups, and after that do jumping jacks for five minutes. With in ten minutes, ten people would have one garage heated. From jusdt the breath of the students, it would heat the garage, and you know what, it was really a great place to have. I truly believe what I am trying to get at, is it is not where you train, so much as what you train. So much as who you are taught by. You can go to your six figure training area, but if you are being taught by someone who does nto know how to teach, nor does he or she teach a very practical style or system of martial arts. Some of the basements, and garage clubs I have trained in were the best places I have ever done the martial arts. Another reason for this is being so close to each other. Not one person can go to the back of the class and hide, not one person can say a word without being caught at it, not one person can make a mistake and not be noticed by the teacher or his or her helpers. So please, if ever someone asks you to go to their private training area, try it out, you might be so surprised that you will never know how you did it without this type of training in the past.

Sifu Klentz, and Dean, Dean was a student of Larry, and was an excellent.

Sifu Klentz, and Dean. Dean was a student of Sifu Klentz, and these set of pictures were taken in Sifu Larry Klentz's garage when the school  had no where to teach from. This place was an excellent place, as it had a wood stove, and was clean. We had to watch out for the roofing equipment, but all in all, again it was a great place. You have to always remember, it does not matter where you learn the martial arts, if the teacher is a good teacher, that is all you need. We do not need fancy clubs that cost six figures, with chrome all over and shinny pants everything. I have been in places like this where all the teachers were hired from the streets, and did not know the first thing about the martial arts, they were paid to teach white belts, so what do you think the white belts thought of their teachers. How do you think they would have been able to tell the difference. That is the point, they never knew, and this went on for thirty years, before a young man by the name of Richard Shergold, finally brought the whole thing down. Which actually should have been done twenty years ago at the very least. One thing that kept most people from taking this organization to court, was money. Richard Shergold had enough to make these charlatans drop their drawers. Now no more of these schools are in operation, and no more people can be taken advantage of. Thank God. We all thank you Richard, wish there were more people like you to clean up the rest of the bad clubs, it makes everyone of us look bad.
