What we teach
Q: Do you teach Sports
A: We are not a sport, "Known as martial sports", we teach traditional martial arts, the type of martial arts that was taught for a thousand years in China for war, for protection and for enlightenment.
Q: Do you teach children
A: Yes we do teach Children, but only if you as a parent come with your
child and jump in the class also. If you do not want to jump into the
class for what ever reason, as long as you are there to support your
child in his or her endevor that is fine, but we are not a baby sitting
service.
What is truly amazing is we have seen adults stay in our system longer than the children do, it seems that children always want something when you say they cannot have it, when you say they can have it they do not want it any longer. Also to note, the best time to learn martial arts is when you are an adult, why? because you know what you want in life, and you take it serious. Please give it a try, you will not believe what it is like compared to what you thought it was like.
Q: Do you teach Meditation
A: Yes we teach many different types of meditation, not one type but many for many different results. We have standing meditation which is known as staking, we have meditation while sitting, learning special breathing excersises, and we learn moving meditation which deals with Tai Chi, and Tai Chi like motions, while breathing properly.
Q: Do we learn how to Fight in this Class:
A: No we do not teach you or your children how to fight, but we do teach you how to defend yourself. Traditional Martial arts puts more enphisis on meditation than we do with fighting. Fighting is only ten percent of what you learn in this most amazing system. Ninty percent is learning how to move, how to breath, how to meditate, how to use herbal medicines for minor injuries, injuries by the way that come from sports not from what we teach. Since teaching in Pembroke from 1981 to present, we have not had one major injury to any student, not one bone break, not one concussion, all things that can come from Hockey, Football, Soccer, and other sports related situations.
We have a saying that says our attacker will always throw the first attack, but we will always land the first blow. Believe me this is true. One of our masters worked in some of the worst nightclubs across Canada. He is five foot eight and one hundred and fifty pounds and not once was he hit with a fist or foot. This is learning how to protect oneself. Where as people from martial sports have tried to work in night clubs in security possitions, the very first night they were either knocked out, or never came back because they found it did not work in a real situation. This is the true difference between real traditional martial arts and sport.
