Combat Technique One The combat techniques are a group of basic techniques that will help teach a student how to use their basic techniques in one smooth motion. When we start to learn the martial arts, we learn separate moves, called blocks, punching, kicking, stepping, jumping, striking, and so much more. But how to teach a student to use these together. Exactly by teaching them two of the motions together at first, then string three together, then four. Slowly a student is able to step, block, and punch all at the same time. Teaching students this way will help them also see what the motion is for. This helps students immensely, in fact if you are in a style of martial art that does not teach application, I would leave immediately, that goes for tai chi, or any Shao lin, or Taoist art. If you have a teacher that says he knows the application but you can't learn it for a few years, I bet when that few years goes by, he will say the same thing. When a teacher high or low can not teach his or her students application, more often then not, it is because they do not know it themselves. Also if a student is not taught application, even for an art such as Tai Chi, it stops their growth in that art. Why, because when you make a motion in the air, you are actually doing a martial art technique, it is not just for health, or to do a move because it looks or feels good. We learn what we are doing in forms, because when we do, it helps us learn how to breath properly when doing such a motion, or teaches us in which direction to focus our energies. In fact learning how to focus your energies is impossible without knowing what you are doing in forms. And yes that would go for sport karate forms also, doing a move without knowing what you are doing, is ridiculous, in fact again, the reason that is most of all, is because the instructor does not know himself. How can you teach something you yourself does not know, which again brings us to the fact of many people becoming instructors when they should never have been allowed to teach. Blind leading the blind, oh Boy. It happens, why the martial arts. Why?
Sifu Dee From the notes of Sifu Fiedler
Neutral stance into arrow stance with double rams head punch
Hand under arm, side step over into bow stance
Slice knife hand out from under arm with a rip, thrust punch right after
Now for the two man technique, of Combat Technique number one
Attacker steps in with punch. You slide forward into arrow stance, high blocking with strike to face, same time low striking with double rams head punch to solar plexus. Your arm that is used for a block also strikes the face when it reaches it's full length, sliding along under your attackers arm into his face.
As he tries to punch you again, you slide into bow stance as you slice your arm out from under your other arm which creates a ripping type power. This power is so great that depending on how hard he punches towards you, depends on how far he will twist away from you. Same time you punch into his ribs. Excellent basic techniques.
Much more to come Sifu Dee
Never ever try to learn technique from a video, magazine, book, or other, always learn from a qualified teacher of the Martial arts. This is very important, for you to learn properly right from the beginning. However if you have been taught martial arts for years and years, techniques like what you see above you will easily understand. Most probably would be the same as your own basic motions from your system of Kung Fu. Sifu Dee
